Drastic Times Call For Drastic Measures

Disaster and Immediate Evacuation, LLC is a disaster preparedness business. It was founded five years ago by CEO & Founder Barrington Polite. Our mission is to get businesses and communities prepared for the next disaster. Whether its a tornado, hurricane, snowstorm, fire, poweroutage, or building collapse, through our products and services, we will prepare, train, and educate the public in Ready-Preparedness. Planning for a disaster can be a daunting task to say the least. Businesses often ask "What scenarios should we prepare for?" and "How likely is it that it will happen to me?" When one thinks of disasters, big events like Hurricane Katrina or 9/11 are first to come to mind. But if we look at the ultimate consequence of a disaster-downtime-we can see that any event, large or small, can have the same effect on IT infrastructure.

They say pictures are worth a thousand words. What does this picture tell you?

We all know the horrible events of that day and know one could have ever imagine that they would be sprinting down the streets of downtown manhattan trying to escape flying debris, chemicals, and a cloud of dust that could be seen from tens of square miles. But it is the aftermath is what really concerns us. Response and Recovery. Two major componets in disaster situations.

The more Prepared we are, the greater our chances are for survival. A Personal Emergency Kit, is next line of defense. There are countless examples of what is achieved through the education in Ready-Preparedness. See our Catalog for the P.E.K. that fits your need.

FAQs

Assemble a Personal Emergency Kit

You may need to survive on your own after a disaster. This means having your own food, water, and other supplies in sufficient quanity to last at least three days.  Local officials and relief workers will be on the scene after a disaster, but they cannot reach everyone immediately. You could get help in hours, or it might take days.

Basic services like electricity, gas, water, sewage treatment, and telephones may be cut off for days, or even a week or longer. Or, you may have to evacuate at a moments notice and take essentials with you.

A Personal Emergency Kit is a collection of basic items that members of a household, company, or a community may need in the event of a disaster.

Disaster Planning Disaster Planning

No institute, research institutions, or national weather agencies, can predict the aftermath of a natural or man-made disaster when it hits. So many people will not get themselves prepared for so many reasons, thats why education in preparedness is so important in our business. We feel that three quarter's of the preparedness process will be achieved through the proper tuteledge and understanding on how emergency planning works.

Sheltering In Place

Taking shelter in times of a disaster is critical. Sheltering is appropiate when conditions require that you seek protection in your home, place of employment, or other location where you are when disaster strikes.

To effectively shelter, you must first consider the hazard and then choose a place in your home or other building that is safe for that hazard.  For example, for a tornado, a room should be selected that is in a basement or an interior room on the lowest level away from corners, windows, doors and outside walls. because the safest locations to seek shelter vary by hazard, sheltering is discussed in the various hazard areas.

The length of time you are required to shelter may be short, such as during a tornado warning, or long, such as during a winter storm.
